General Archibald Gracie, Jr., who was killed at Petersburg on 2 Dec. 1864....His son, who survived the sinking of the Titantic, was Colonel Archibald Gracie IV...

Found the answer- it is Colonal Archibald Gracie IV who survived the Titanic- his father was Archibald Gracie, Jr. who served with the Confederacy as a militia captain of the Washington Light Artillery, was later promoted to brigadier general and killed on December 2, 1864.

Colonel Archibald Gracie IV, son of Confederate Brigadier General Archibald Gracie, survived the Titanic sinking. His father, Brig. General Archibald Gracie, was killed at Chickamauga on Dec. 21, 1864.

General Archibald is buried in New York City.

I think this was the flag used on Stonewall Jackson's coffin...If so, it may now be a part of the VMI collection....
