The monument was dedicated during the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the battle in July, 1938. I found conflicting sources as to the exact date, one saying the speech was delivered on July 1 and the other saying it was delivered on July 3, so I have accepted either answer.

I note that several of you gave a different answer to Question #11. I was unable to find any source indicating 1st Maine Heavy Artillery suffered a casualty rate of at least 82% in a single engagement, either at Petersburg or any other battle (remember, the question referred to a single engagement, not the entire war). If any of you can cite such a source, I will accept the answer.
I apologize for not being involved in the last 2 sets of questions ... Putting in a lot of hours at work due to the holidays ... hope now that I have a lull between Turkey day and Christmas that I can work on this weeks questions.
