War Service April 1861 Capt. in 12th Ohio, June 1861 Col. of 24th Ohio, Western Virginia campaign, Shiloh, advance on Corinth, July 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, garrison commands and courts martial, resigned January 1865.
