Born March 31 1817, Baltimore MD
Died July 23 1893, Ventura CA
Pre-War Profession Lawyer, US congressman.
War Service September 1861 Col. of 9th Iowa, commanded 2nd Bde/4th Divn at Pea Ridge, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Divn/Army of the Frontier in Vicksburg campaign, commanded 1st Bde/Herron's Divn/XIII Corps at Vicksburg, commanded 3rd Bde/2nd Divn/XVI Corps in Atlanta campaign, commanded 1st Bde/2nd Divn/XIV Corps in Carolinas campaign, Bentonville.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. June 7 1865.
Post War Career Lawyer, Indian inspector, US congressman.
