Born July 21 1815, Ferrisburg VT
Died March 28 1901, Washington DC
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1840, artillery service, quartermaster service, Mexican war.
War Service August 1861 Maj. and chief quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac, September 1861 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers - appointment expired, asked to be relieved of his post, transportation and supply duty in New York, March 1865 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers.
Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.A. October 28 1864, Maj. Gen. U.S.V. March 13 1865, Maj. Gen. U.S.A. March 13 1865.
Post War Career Army service in quartermaster's department, retired 1881.
