Born December 19 1819, Elizabethtown IN
Died December 22 1895, Rockport IN
Pre-War Profession Lawyer, county auditor, politician.
War Service August 1861 Col. of 25th Indiana, commanded 2nd Bde/4th Divn at Ft Donelson, Shiloh, April 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, advance on Corinth, commanded the Dist. of Memphis, commanded 4th Divn/XVI Corps in Atlanta campaign, commanded minor posts in the South, commanded 1st Divn/XIII Corps in Mobile campaign.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. March 26 1865.
Post War Career Lawyer, state adjutant general, collector of internal revenue
