Died September 1 1862, Alexandria VA
Pre-War Profession Midshipman in US Navy, resigned 1831, farmer, Mexican war, engaged in mining and manufacture of iron.
War Service June 1861 Col. of 3rd New Jersey, May 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 1st Bde/1st Divn/VI Corps in Seven Days, Second Bull Run (mw).
