War Service 1861 Lt. in 4th Virginia, First Manassas, Jackson's Shenandoah Valley campaign, Seven Days, Maj., Second Manassas (w), Sharpsburg, led the regiment at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, September 1863 Col., Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, May 1864 Brig. Gen., commanded the Stonewall Bde/Johnson’s Divn at Cold Harbor, Shenandoah Valley campaign, Third Winchester (w), Petersburg, Fort Stedman (w).
