Stevens,Atherton,H. jr.

Provost Marshall of 25th corps,On April,3,1865 led two companies of the 4th Massachusetts Cavalry into Richmond,and thus became the first federal officer to enter the Confederate capital. Hoisted the two guidons on the roof of the capital building ,being the first federal colors in the defeated city.
