Roll of Honor

A list of Confederate officers and soldiers who displayed courage during action in the War Between the States. The south lacked the resouces to give medals, so in Oct, 1862 the Confederate Congress authorized, as a substitute, the Roll of Honor, to be published in southern newapapers after each battle.
