Born August 26 1811, Leeds ME
Died September 26 1866, Clifton, Canada
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1836, engineering duties, resigned 1852, chief engineer of Alabama, advised on the defence of Mobile Bay.
War Service 1861 Col. of engineers, acting chief of Bureau of Engineers, advised on coastal fortifications, superintended construction in East Tennessee, arranged lines at Chattanooga, Knoxville, defence of Mobile.
Post War Career Moved to Mexico, Canada.
Notes Was criticised for his work at Knoxville, which some claimed cost Longstreet victory.
