LONG, Armistead Lindsay CSA


Born September 3 1825, Campbell Cty VA
Died April 29 1891, Charlottesville VA
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1850, artillery duty, resigned June 1861.
War Service 1861 Maj. of artillery, Loring's staff in Western Virginia, Col. as military secretary to Lee when he became commander of ANV, commander of II Corps artillery, September 1863 Brig. Gen., served with the ANV until the end of the War.
Post War Career Canal engineer, although blind wrote a biography of R E Lee.
Notes Son-in-law of Union Gen. E V Sumner
