LEE, Fitzhugh CSA


Born November 19 1835, Fairfax Cty VA
Died April 28 1905, Washington DC
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1856, frontier duty, instructor at West Point, resigned May 1861.
War Service 1861 1st Lt., Lt. Col. in 1st Virginia Cavalry, March 1862 Col., staff officer in Peninsula campaign, July 1862 Brig. Gen., commanded Lee’s Cavalry brigade in the Sharpsburg campaign, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, August 1863 Maj. Gen., commanded Lee’s Cavalry Divn, Spotsylvania, Third Winchester (w), chief of cavalry in ANV towards the end of the war.
Post War Career Farmer, governor, consul general at Havana, Maj. Gen. of US Volunteers in Spanish-American war.
