Pre-War Profession Lawyer, Mexican War, US congressman.
War Service December 1861 recruited 3rd Kentucky Cavalry - Col., July 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 10th Divn/Army of the Ohio at Perryville (k).
