INGALLS, Rufus
Born August 23 1818, Denmark ME
Died January 15 1893, New York NY
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1843, Mexican war, quartermaster service.
War Service September 1861 Lt. Col. and aide to McClellan, July 1862 chief quartermaster of the Army of the Potomac, May 1863 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, chief quartermaster of all armies around Richmond.
Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.A. March 13 1865, Maj. Gen. U.S.V. March 13 1865, Maj. Gen. U.S.A. March 13 1865.
Post War Career Army service, quartermaster general, retired 1883.
