Pre-War Profession Lawyer.
War Service May 1861 Capt. in 3rd Connecticut, First Manassas, October 1861 Col. of 8th Connecticut, Burnside's North Carolina expedition, commanded 2nd Bde/3rd Divn/IX Corps at South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded districts in North Carolina.
Post War Career Lawyer, politician, judge, bank president.
