Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1859, artillery duty in
Oregon.
War Service May 1861 1st Lt. and aide to Henry Hunt in Peninsula campaign, Groveton, Second Bull Run(w), September 1862 Col. of 12th Pennsylvania Reserves, Gettysburg, Bristoe Station, Mine Run, December 1863 wounded while on picket duty, wounded at North Anna River, July 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Washington defences during Early's raid.
Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.A.
March 13 1865.
Post War Career Army service, retired 1870, lawyer, active in veterans' affairs, writer.
