Died
May 5 1864, WildernessVA
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1844, Mexican war, resigned 1848, gold prospector, construction engineer.
War Service May 1861 Capt. in 16th US Infantry, October 1861 Col. of 63rd Pennsylvania, Peninsula campaign, Seven Pines, Seven Days, Second Bull Run (w), September 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, Washington defences, commanded 3rd Divn/III Corps at Gettysburg, commanded 2nd Bde/3rd Divn/II Corps at Wilderness (k).
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V.
May 5 1864.
