Pre-War Profession Lawyer, politician,
US congressman from Texas.
War Service 1861 fled from
Texas to Mexico then to US, military governor of Texas, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers - expired March 1863, reappointed September 1863, resigned June 1865.
Post War Career Governor of
Texas, supreme court judge.
