Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/1st Divn/IV Corps at Second Manassas, South Mountain, Antietam, commanded 2nd Divn/VI Corps at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, commanded the Artillery depot in Washington. Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.A. March 13 1865, Maj. Gen. U.S.A.March 13 1865, Maj. Gen. U.S.V. July 13 1865.
