Died March 27 1882, Lima, Peru
Pre-War Profession Lawyer, Seminole war, politician.
War Service May 1861 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 4th Divn/Army of the Tennessee at Shiloh, advance on Corinth, garrison duty at Memphis, September 1862 promoted Maj. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Dept of the Gulf.
Post War Career Commander in chief of GAR, minister to Colombia, US congressman, minister to Peru.
