GORDON, George Henry
Born July 19 1823, CharlestownMA
Died August 30 1886, FraminghamMA
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1846, Mexican war, resigned 1854, lawyer.
War Service May 1861 recruited 2nd Massachusetts - Col., Shenandoah Valley campaign, June 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 3rd Bde/1st Divn/II Corps at CedarMountain, Chantilly, SouthMountain, Antietam, Suffolk campaign, commanded a division in siege of Charleston, served in Arkansas, Florida, Eastern Virginia.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. April 9 1865.
Post War Career Lawyer, author, historian.
