Born June 3 1824, New York NY
Died April 15 1889, Lakewood NJ
Pre-War Profession Served in US Navy, Mexican war, resigned 1848, lawyer, civil engineer.
War Service 1861 enlisted in "Excelsior Brigade", Maj. in 74th New York, Lt. Col., May 1861 Col., Seven Pines, Seven Days, recruiting duty, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 1st Bde/1st Divn/II Corps at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg (w,c), exchanged after two months, commanded gunboats in Army of the James, defences of Bermuda Hundred.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. March 13 1865.
Post War Career Civil engineer, port surveyor.
