Born August 9 1824, Nelson NH
Died January 14 1902, Keene NH
Pre-War Profession Teacher, lawyer, politician.
War Service June 1861 Capt. in 2nd New Hampshire, First Bull Run, Lt. Col. in 6th New Hampshire, Carolina expedition, April 1862 Col., Second Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, commanded 1st Bde/2nd Divn/IX Corps in Vicksburg campaign, commanded Camp Nelson KY, commanded 1st Divn/V Corps at Spotsylvania, May 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Crater, Appomattox.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. April 2 1865.
Post War Career Manufacturer, railroad and land speculator, politician.
