Died July 30 1900, New Castle IN
Pre-War Profession Farm laborer, lawyer, politician, judge.
War Service October 1861 Col. of 36th Indiana, Shiloh, commanded 10th Bde/4th Divn in the Kentucky campaign, commanded 3rd Bde/2nd Divn/XXI Corps in Vicksburg campaign, Chickamauga, Chattanooga, Atlanta campaign, July 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 3rd Bde/1st Divn/IV Corps at Franklin and Nashville.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. August 13 1865.
Post War Career Internal revenue collector, politician, writer.
