Born November 22 1818, Gloucester Cty NJ
Died April 20 1910, Florala FL
Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1843, Mexican War, resigned 1856, planter.
War Service 1861 Chief of ordnance of Mississippi, April 1861 Maj. of CSA artillery, October 1861 Brig. Gen., served on the Virginia peninsula, August 1862 Maj. Gen., served in Petersburg and Suffolk districts, served in North Carolina, commanded French’s Divn/Polk’s Corps in Atlanta campaign, Allatoona, Franklin, relieved because of an eye infection, Mobile.
Post War Career Planter, wrote memoirs.
