Born July 14 1831, Springfield MA
Died April 21 1888, Boston MA
Pre-War Profession Entered West Point in 1849 but dismissed for academic reasons, manufacturer.
War Service June 1861 Lt. Col. of 70th New York, July 1861 Col., Williamsburg (w,c), exchanged, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 1st Bde/4th Divn/XIX Corps at Port Hudson, Red River campaign, commanded 1st Divn/XIX Corps in Shenandoah Valley campaign, Winchester, Fisher's Hill, Cedar Creek, arrested for defamatory statements but no action taken.
Post War Career Railroad businessman.
