Davis guard Medal

Designed by Charles Gottchalk, it was the only Medal ever officially awarded by the CSA. The award went to Lt. Richard Dowling and the Davis Guards after their successful defense of Sabine Pass, Texas in 1863 against seemly overwhelming odds.
