Gen. of Volunteers - expired as there was an excess of generals, commanded Dist of Ohio, commanded 3rd Divn/XXIII Corps in Atlanta campaign, Franklin, Nashville, December 1864 promoted Maj. Gen. of Volunteers, Kinston.
