Born December 30 1818, Camden SC
Died June 30 1874, Fort Mitchell AL
Pre-War Profession Lawyer, politician, Mexican War, planter.
War Service 1861 Col. of 15th Alabama, Shenandoah Valley campaign, Seven Days, January 1863 Brig. Gen., commanded Cantey’s Divn at the start of the Atlanta campaign, then commanded Cantey’s Bde/Walthall’s Divn, Franklin and Nashville campaign, Carolinas campaign, Bentonville.
