Pre-War Profession Attended Kentucky Military Institute, lawyer, farmer.
War Service August 1861 raised 26th Kentucky - Col., Shiloh, Arkansas Post, Vicksburg campaign, June 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded Dist. of Kentucky, stalled Morgan's raid into Kentucky, relieved of command January 1865.
Brevet Promotions Maj. Gen. U.S.V. July 4 1864.
Post War Career
