Rob,

The only person who should 'rate' you on rudeness is yourself.

If you reply in the heat of the moment or you think you may be percieved wrongly, why post it? You know what you mean to write and impart when you prepare a post, no one else does.

To thine own self be true.

Sincerely,
Unionblue

Dear Sam,

No, no, no, no sir...I promise I won't do it! Unless, of course, you REALLY would like me to start a new post on "Alabaman's sterling CWT discussion performance." lol!

Dear Unionblue,

Well..OK...I rate myself a 10/10! I'll take my A plus, take your wise & considerate thought to heart and continue posting. Alright, B plus and thats my final offer. :-) Thank You, Neil!

Respectfully Submitted,
Alabaman

What an interesting idea: give your idea of Alabaman's rudeness rating! Or anybody else's. I'm laughing.

Maybe what we need if we're going to be more frank than previously is sound files of people reading their inputs. Then we could experience the true tone.

JOKING.

Hi Sockknitter,

That's a good one! lol!

You know, with all the "he" said this or "this one" said that, it makes a CWT member feel paranoid...well.. more paranoid! hehehe lol! Kidding with you as well!!

But seriously, I'm the only member to come up with such a novel idea. "Rate a MEMBER" post, lol! Isn't it great. I'm such a great prima dona; much like George C. Patton, wouldn't you agree? ;-) This way nobody has to guess if they are the subject of another's reference in rudeness. And given the point that "some" people's opinion on CWT is pure FACT, you've got to agree. ROFL!

Good points for "Rate a MEMBER" *patent pend. post:
1) it removes that disagreeable paranoid feeling
2) you get the FACTUAL "truth"
3) you can have 'instant' check on your 'status'
4) leaves out undesired & tiresome inquiry
5) doesn't cost a penny

:-) ;-)
Sincerely,
Alabaman

Rob: We are not here to determine how others perceive us. I could care a rat's patoot (politeness police, please notice) about how I'm perceived. I am here to explore and discover other's perceptions compared my own. If someone's conviction grates me, I expect it. That sort of thing leads to better understanding. And better understanding is the place where I want to be.

CChartreux put this entire situation into perspective for me. In my words, based on her dissertations, the WBTS was the adolescence of the United States of America -- hormones and foolishness.

The solution is simple. If someone is grating you stop responding to their posts, even if they goad you to answer.
They will eventually stop, and you will have no more trouble with them.
It is best for members to police themselves and I prefer not to lodge complaints.

Unhappy I don't get here as much as I'd like and....

..I'd just like to say, from the experience I have, the rude people get short shrift from the rest of you!

The other day I saw the biggest load of 'hooey' about Englsih history posted, that I've ever seen!

I try not to get upset but I was 'piqued'. As I started to read the thread,I saw that I didn't need to post, the rest of you fine people were already 'on the case'. saved me the job! (And a resit of all my English History Exams!)

People do share threads with opposing views without problems but one or two just seem to want to 'rile people up'.

I think we know who they are and they do get treated as they deserve. It's a waste frankly, when there is so much to share and enjoy. How boring if every post got 100% agreement and approval!

Give opinions for sure but don't re-write history to suit your point of view!

Spirit of Pickett,

If you are referring to me I take no offense.

If that is the case I would like to know of any defects in the post you cited.

You may PM me if you wish since the topic has been locked. I will treat you with the cordial regard I always show to guests.

Thank you.
