Post HELP! research needed for children

Hi, I'm a re-enactor in the UK and have two children age 5 and 6 (boy and girl) I want to know what is authentically correct clothing and foot wear?

I have had some friends inform me that elastic had not long been around and was used in boots such as jodspur riding boots. Can these be worn?
As you can guess our weather is very unpredictable and the ground we camp on can be dry and dusty or very muddy so to find correct footwear for kids like boots would be great.

Dear lady, my children (affectionately known as the Grasshoppers) were about that age when we started reenacting. A great place to start is at Elizabeth Stewart Clark's website. The particular page which has information about reenacting with children is

    http://www.elizabethstewartclark.com/GAMC/LS/index.htm

Mrs. Clark's children are far ahead of mine. They've been reenacting since they were newborns.

The whole site is well worth your time.

I will second the suggestion for Elizibeth Clark; the woman is a wealth of knowledge and quite nice as well. Any info she gives is golden.
Few take the trouble to understand or to view the American scene with perspective. And we Americans love to find ourselves guilty of something. However, it is never I who am guilty, but those other Americans, the past or present government or the other political party. Americans almost never find other countries guilty. It is always ourselves or our fancied influence in other countries. Louis L'amour

What a wonderful site. I will be recommending this to all my fellow female re-enactors.

    Thankyou so much.
