Hush! Now we'll have people burning his albums!
I don't propose to say anything about politics- but I want you to do as I do- go to the polls and select the best man to vote for. I feel that you are free men, I am a free man, and we can do as we please. I come here as a friend and whenever I can serve any of you, I will do so. We have one Union, one flag and one country, therefore let us stand together. -- Nathan Bedford Forrest to Jubilee of Pole Bearers Organization, Memphis, 1875.

OK, I clicked on the link, and I didn't see anything objectionable. Am I missing something?

Unless the insinuation is that because 'III' was an OK Dude, 'I' must have been as well?

Which is what I don't get, and why I've been contributing to this thread at all. What someone's ancestors did is *interesting* from a historical standpoint, but it's the past. What sort of persons their descendants are is wholly up to the descendants.

The whole, 'I'm an OK Dude so all my ancestors must have been OK Dudes' mindset is the pitfall of genealogical research that I see too much of.

Some of my ancestors were OK Dudes, some were jackasses.

    It's true of everyone's family.

Arlington? (Since Lee never had a farm, I'm guessing that's what you meant.)

Excuse me. What part of "off-topic" did y'all not understand? This was a perfectly good topic introduced in good faith to get opinions and perhaps information. If one wishes to dispute the motives of ancestors and descentants, start another thread.
