Hello fellow horse lovers and Civil War Enthusiast;

I would like to invite you & your organization to our:

1st Annual Living History event & memorial service called the
“Muster in the Meadow” at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

This will take place on Sunday May 30th (Memorial Day Sunday)

We will be hosting a morning dedication & remembrance service, and a living history talks & demonstrations at the Chapel area in the afternoon.
A whole day dedicated to Civil War activities.

My name is Steve Teeft. I am a friend of John and Linda Tucker and re-enact together, while John also works with us at the learning center. I have also used him for a Riderless Horse service for grave site services.

I am a Civil War historian & Civil War museum director.
I am a board member with the Buffalo Civil War Round Table & Assist event organizer of a new event listed below.

On behalf of the Forest Lawn Cemetery & the Buffalo Civil War Round Table “The Ben Maryniak chapter” & the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, we would like to include you & your organization to our Living History & memorial event

Scheduled Program:

Morning Dedication
1) 10 AM (sharp) The Reenactor’s will march in procession from the front main entrance; for a (brief) remembrance service to our late departed friend: Benedict Maryniak;

2) Following Ben’s remembrance, we will be dedicating 13 new government markers to those Union soldiers, who died at the end of the Civil War at Buffalo General Hospital in 1865.
Our honor Guard will pay military honors / tribute to these men, reading of the roll of the 13, whom never before had their graves been marked and merely forgotten until recently.

3) The last dedication will be to General Albert Meyer – a new maker & woodcarving of the general.
(These honors will conclude by 12 noon)

Afternoon Living History / Demonstrations
At 1 PM – at the Chapel – Reenactor’s & living historians – will be giving talks & demonstrations at both the Chapel & in the Meadow.

We are hoping to have a good showing of the following:

A)

• US & CS Infantry
• US & CS Artillery
• US Cavalry
• US Signal Corps
• US Medical Corps
• US / CS Navy
• US Marine Corps
• Fife & Drum
• & many Civil War era Civilians & mourners.


B) Other exhibits & programs
Also will be a small exhibit of the Echoes Through Time learning center & Civil War museum, a display of those Union Soldiers whom were given military honors in the morning,

Also available will be various tables promoting:
• The Buffalo Civil War Round Table “Ben Maryniak” Chapter
• The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War
• The Echoes Through Time learning center & Civil War Museum
• Signal Corps & General Albert Meyer

Side Note

A drilling area available behind the camps, area provided for both Artillery & Mounted Cavalry.

We are asking anyone or Civil War units to do some type of living history presentation who are attending:

• Rifle Firing

Some amenities will be available:


• Port-a-johns
• Water
• Open area for military camps / drills
• Area for demonstrating / talks

A lunch voucher will be provided for those registered Reenactor’s taking part in the living history / demonstrations, AND MUST BE REGISTERED, to get the lunch voucher. (Limited number will be provided to the March 1st date)

All others can purchase food & drinks at the Vendors area
