    Default Suspenders

I needed a new pair of suspenders so I ordered one and when it came its to big. I didn't think they had sizes but I can't adjust it anymore. Is there any way I can stitch it that wouldn't be considered f-a-r-b?

Hi, being a "shorty" I had the same problem, all I did was, unstitch from the central bar of the ajustment buckle cut off a couple of in.or so and restitch, stitching will be hidden looking from the front of suspender,[if yours are the same design as mine],hope this helps Tony.

If they are the non adjaustable tyoe of suspenders that only have the button holes insed of tas the only way you can make that kind shorter without nearly rebuilding them is to fold over some of it till it is long or short as you want and sew it down. I suggest doing that part in the back. It will be out of the way and folks won't see it to much. I have done this to many pair of suspenders. The F word does not come in to play on any minor adjustments that you. Soldiers back then would have to do the same thing.
Now another idea is to is do the fold over in the front and only sew the bottom edge of the fold and then sew the sides real good whle leaving the top part of the fold open. What you would end up with is a very narrow pocket that you can fit something like a pencil or a tooth brush or other such objects. I do that all the time when I make haversacks strap shorter. For a chow hound like myself I keep my spoon in my haversack strap. Others put a knife.

You have encountered the typical idea of military issue. Too big or too little. Reworking the gear would be a thing done by all soldiers in their service. No worries about ****, it is just a fact of government issue.

Suspenders were never issued by the government.
