On honoring Jeff Davis
Anniston Star Sat, 04 Jun 2005 9:41 PM PDT
Monday, June 6, is an observed holiday in Alabama commemorating the birth of Jefferson Davis. No man is more worthy of a holiday observance than Davis, who was president of the Confederate States of America, and before that a hero in the Mexican War, a cabinet official and a U.S. senator.
