Default Redoubt 2 in Williamsburg, VA

Redoubt #2 is where my Great Grandfather Elisah (misspel in my handle - & could also be my Great Great Grandfather - still unsure about that part) was part of the REAR GUARD left by Gen Joseph E. Johnston when he withdrew the Warwick-Yorktown Line on May 4th.

Redoubt #2 is litterally less than 5 miles from my Father's current home in Williamsburg and I got to walk in the footsteps of these GREAT Men.

Redoubt #3 has very recently been cleared, cleaned up, and plaques put in place, and a walking path and deck overlooking Quarterpath Rd from the top of Redoubt #3.

They've already begun work on Redoubt #2 where my Great Grandfather was positioned and it was a powerful weekend all the way around for me. Listening to my father speak of the great Men my Grt Grndfather fought with and then taking part myself in the Reenactment of the Battle of Chancellorsville on the Isle of Wight (Rainy as it was) just made for an emotional weekend.

I'm hoping to follow some of where the War took my Grt Grndfather and one such place is Camping out on Redoubt #2, with permission of course, on May 4/5 with my Father. We've already contacted the group working to reconstruct these Redoubts and memorialize those men on both sides.

I have pictures, and I'll post them once I get home this evening, but WOW!! What a weekend I had.

Oh, and a little tid bit my father told me, Grt Grnddaddy Elisah fought and survived numerous LARGE battles only to be taken prisoner 2 days before the war ended in MD. Of course he repatriotated and returned home shortly there after.

Just wanted to share, thanks for such a wonderful board, where I've been able to learn!

Kindest Regards,

~Kerri Baker
