Default Pvt Merida Queen, 6th GA Cavalry Regt

After some time researching the Queen side of the family, I've discovered the gravesite of a great, great, great uncle, Merida Queen.

Merida enlisted in the 6th GA Cavalry at Swee****er, TN in April 1863, and according to his pension application served until the surrender in NC in 1865. On his original grave marker is marked, "Rest Soldier, Thy Warefare Is Over." So, I am assuming that he undoubtedly took great pride in his CS service. Merida had other brothers who served, one in the 23rd GA Infantry, another either in the 6th GA Cav or 23rd GA Inf. In this case, I've found two John Queens, and each could well be the brother of Merida, currently, I have not been able to find the actual brother.

Default Merida and Elizabeth Queen Photo

Very recently, a cousin had emailed me this photograph of Marida with his wife Elizabeth. I was very excited to have received this.

A treasure, RQL1! It's so hard to find and gather ancestors' photos.

I have a few tintypes from the old country, circa, 1850 but, of course, there's no provenance attached. Who are those people? At least you have one with a name on it. Enjoy what you have and keep looking.
