Default My Confederate Ancestory

I recently discovered my great-great-great grandfather served with the Confederacy for the duration of the war. He was a POW in Alabama for a year. I was tickled to death to watch my blood line unfold as I searched tirelessly on Ancestry.com. After the work, it was worth it. I am proud to be a "son of a Confederate veteran." Now, if I could just make it official. Does anyone have a personnal experience with appliying with SCV? I would love to, but I have not gotten a response from the representative in NC. I would appreciate any advise.

Welcome to the board Sam. You've come to the right place. There are several members here who are active in the SCV. They'll tell you what you need to know.

Sam
Sir,

I am the Judge Advocate for our SCV Buffalo Guards Camp-1975 in western New York. We would be glad to talk to you anytime. No, you do not have to live in the area to be an associate member or active member. We can also help you find a camp closer to you home.

Respectfully,

John R. Tucker

I'm excited for you, but please be careful!

Just because it is on Rootsweb doesn't make it right! Make sure the data can be validated through proper records. One error on a lineage someplace will multiply to errors across the internet, promulgating forever. I'm still trying to convince the world that if Johnathan was the son of Nathaniel, he married his mother after his dad died!

Default Joining A Unit

I am from North Carolina. I am very interested in joining a camp or unit in my area, although I will not be able to attend every function. I will be happy to do what is necessary to remain a member of such an organization. Thank you for your help.
