Researching Your Civil War AncestryDo you have a distant relative who fought in the Civil War? Would you like to find out if you do? This is the discussion for you!
Thanks, Shane, for that info. It added to what I already knew.
Pvt Norton was captured at Six Mile House and eventually taken to Salisbury, NC, where he died in prison on Nov 3, 1864.
I have since found out that I'm directly desended from George Morrow.

Confederate Ancestors: Captain Thomas A. Morrow, 29th Texas Cavalry (G-G-G- Uncle) and 2LT George W. Morrow, 31st Texas Cavalry (G-G-G Grandfather). Both survived the war
While doing some research I drew the link between G.W. Morrow and myself.
His granddaughter, who was called "Jimmie George" Morrow, married Hezekiah K. White. One of their sons was J.R. White. His oldest daughter, Patricia, married Fred E. Powers, who became my parents. This makes George Morrow my G-G-G-Grandfather on my mother's father's mothers' side.
I think that makes Thomas a G-G-G Uncle or something along those lines.
As far as my Northern ancestor is concerned, Arnuah Norton had children when he died in 1864. A granddaughter named Margaret was adopted by a family called Ingram. She married Fred Powers and gave birth to three children, the youngest became my father.
And that is how the WBTS has been linked to little ol' me.

I am distantly related to the Morrows in MS. Noxabee Co is close by. I'll keep you in mind, because George Morrow rings a bell, I just can't remember which 'tree' I saw him on.

I got my info from a book that was passed down for a couple of generations. My parents are safekeeping it. It it got into the hands of a few of my relatives, we'll never see it again. It has been willed to me.
My problen is that I'm having trouble finding muster documents on either one, especially through Texas State Archives.
