Not as bad as you would think prroh. W/ a set of fingerless gloves you can do pretty good in the mountains of TN, wasn't a serious issue @ Stones River or Nashville. And we have to remember that these men had what they were doing so drilled into them that they did know what they were doing. I'm sure dropping a couple caps occasionally was an issue but w/ four packs you get 48 caps; plus armory packs (180k IIRC) of caps were available though I have no idea how often they made it into the field instead of between armories.
