Default Reenactor To Portray MY Ancestor At Andersonville

A reenactor from my home town is going to portray my great grandfather, Sergeant Henry W. Tisdale, Company I, 35th MA Vol., at a reenactment at Andersonville in March 2009. He currently reenacts with the 13th and 21st MA groups. As I understand it he has travelled to the Andersonville reenactments several times before portraying soldiers that he had little information on and who died there. That will not be a problem with my ancestor's diary on the web to give him plenty of information of what it was like to be a detachment sergeant at Andersonville from June-October 1864. He will be taking photos and will give me prints. My mother is excited as I am about this.

He told me that they had to agree to the same rations that the Union POWs in 1864 received for the 3 days of the event. That means burnt cornbread with husks, cobs, and bugs all thrown in! There will be sanitary facilitories, but they have to live in "shebangs".

Default Andersonville

I am a part time historian and a volunteer for the park service at Andersonville. Our March events are a great experiance and we couldnt do it without those who travel from such distances to help up and experiance doing such a difficult impression. Im sure you have the details of what son record but if there are any questions I can help with please let me know.
