Default 145th Anniversary of Gettysburg

Gettysburg in July should be a great time, anyone planning on attending?

I will be in attendance with the 8th Georgia Infantry, Co A, The Rome Light Guard in the Living History Villiage. We have several events planned, including the trial and shooting of a deserter who commited treason.

Also, I am working to set up a gathering of Northern Virginia Civilians, both men & women alike, for those interested. And a kind offer to use her Sulter's Tent on Saturday has been extended, but I'll leave that tidbit out till I've confirmed.

Look forward to seeing you there!

I've always wanted to drive out there to see this. Is there a link anywhere that shows the schedule of events etc?

Click on 'Gettysburg in July' and you should find yourself on the Anniverisary page.

Hope to see you there!

I assume you can bring a tent and camp at one of the Gettysburg Campground locations? Do these places get full, how far in advance would one need to reserve a place?

tackitt,

I don't know the answer to that question, the only thing I can suggest is to google campgrounds around Gettysburg and go from there. Or click here: http://www.gettysburgreenactment.com/lodge.htm for lodging information in the area.

Have you registered? Registration is closed and I don't know if they are allowing subs at this point. And there are no walk ons either.

Good luck and hope to see you there.

Kind Regards,

Kerri B.

tackitt, one of our 8th Georgia members has opened her farm up to campers. Send me a pm and I'll pass you her private email and you can drop her a note to see if she has room available for you.

She lives right there within walking distance of the First Day Battle site.

Ma'am,

I'll be there with my pards, the 9th Kentucky Infantry Company C, Ready Rifle Mess for the High Tide event and camping through until the 145th. Definitely looking forward to it!
If you happen to make a pilgrimage through the military camps, tarry a moment or two to say hi!

Respectfully,

Pvt. Kirk

I will be attending the 145th. My pards & I will arrive Wednesday afternoon. My unit is the 3rd Arkansas. It will be a great time for us, since we don't get to protray ourselves very much coming from Arkansas. One thing about it though, we have decendents from the REAL 3rd Arkansas Soldiers in our unit including me. It will be a very special day to see our Arkansas Monument. Not many here in Arkansas have had that opportunity to see it.

How many units going to Gettysburg will be protraying the units that were there?
