Hello All,
I am new to this forum and wanted to say hello and I look forward in great discussions about the War Between the States.
I hail from Connecticut and live in the New Haven area. Along with my friend whom we both do Rev. War British Regulars, we decided to form a ACW group to portray the the 10th Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry which had recruits from the whole State and even some men from Eastern New York. One thing that drew us to do the 10th was that the Regiment was part of the South Carolina Department in 1863 and saw action in the Charleston area, most famously Fort Wagner.
The recreated 10th CVI only has a few members and still in its infant stage. We are veteren reenactors with strong passion for authenticity, safety, and FUN. We took the field for the first time last season. We know the scheduling conflicts of the real world and that is why we are aiming to only do a few events a year to ensure good turnout. Our intent is to participate in good size tactical demostrations (battle reenactments) and to occasionally support local area functions.
I will be able to talk more off the forum with you. I look forward in hearing from those interested. Thank you and continue the great research and discussions we all have to make sure that this conflict is never forgotten or interprepted incorrectly. Thanks again.
Joe
