Default Armi Sport vs. Euroarms Enfield

I'm new to the hobby and have started putting together my clothing and gear. I'm ready to purchase my musket and have decided on the 3-band Enfield. Should I go with the Armi Sport or Euroarms? Also, which of the two is the better shooting musket for live fire?

Here are a few threads that might be useful for you on a variety of levels not just which is better... As to ArmiSport or EuroArms you are arguing Ford or Chevy. I'm partial to the Armi-Sport because it is lighter & is less expensive to Authenticize and I had outstanding luck w/ mine. Several outfits make an EXCELLENT corrected P53.

I'm partial to Lodgewood www.lodgewood.com because I have had OUTSTANDING service from them over the years.

Regimental QM www.regtqm.com has an outstanding selection of corrected arms and those I have handled are first rate w/ many (not all) of the Italian errors fixed.

http://jamesriverarmory.com may have the best M1861 Springfield repop correction but I have only seen one of their P53 w/ a different barrel and I have since discovered severalof the parts were originals.

Todd Watts of the Blockade Runner has an excellent reputation; I've not seen any of his work... at least I don't believe so. www.blockaderunner.com

Good Luck

I tote a 1861 58 calibre Springfield from Euroarms. This was the weapon carried by the Iron Brigade after Brawner's Farm. The rifle is very well made and a "pleasure" to shoot. I qualify "pleasure" because, while shooting black powder is raucous fun, it can be bruising, dirty and tiring. As for powder, I use XX black powder. XXX is a little fine for any bore over 50 calibre. I am sure you would be satisfied with a weapon from either manufacturer.

My dear mother:- I have come safely through two more terrible engagements with the enemy, that at South Mountain and the great battle of yesterday (Antietam). Our splendid regiment is almost destroyed. We have had nearly 400 men killed and wounded in the battles. Seven of our officers were shot and three killed in yesterday's battle and nearly 150 men killed and wounded. All from less than 300 engaged. The men have stood like iron....Maj.
