Default Looking for Uniforms

Well I need a little help.

I am trying to get some uniforms for my teens, a nephew, and a friend. My Son's want to do more with their father and think they will enjoy reenacting, My nephew and his friend want to as well, but there financial situation is they just can't afford the uniforms, and I would be divorced if I suggested my sew all their uniforms, since she makes her own dresses.

I know that some of the Sutlers have "New Fish Specials" but I was hoping to locate some used Uniforms, maybe some one has up graded his persona and has some of the cheaper uniforms about...

I don't want to be getting into buying a lot of higher dollar equipment for them, until they show for sure that their interest is not passing fad.

Sizes vary, but the boys down in Texas tend to run on the Huskey side, all of the BS I guess...

If you have something please email me and I will see if it works.
Feel free to email me at info@18thtexasinfantry.org

Thank you for any help.

James

http://www.bridgemicro.com/msullivan/catalog/index.htm?

Chris Sulliven has a complete Union used set for $130 on his Consignment page and I believe may have a few other things sized for the younger crowd.

Good Luck

Thank you both....

You are so right about getting our young people involved. It has become very common for our young people not to know the basics of American History....If these young men want to participate, I will try everything I can to find a way to outfit them.

To many History courses are taught by, Coaches, not History Teachers. I love sports, but believe a subject should be taught by someone with a passion for the material. Coaches have a passion for their sport.

I believe the subject and and the Student loose.

Sorry on my Soap Box.

My 16 year old as of the end of January stands 6'4 and has a 18 inch neck, I will have to buy his brogans new he wears a 15 wide.

My 14 year old stands 6' and has a 16" neck. My nephew is about the same as my 16 year old and his friend is about the same as my 14 year old.

Thanks again

James

James:

I'd suggest that you take the two oldest and kick their butts thoroughly ... just to show them who runs the show.

I will fly the flag and salute over whatever body parts remain.

There are several Forums out there that have buy/sell sections for used equipment on a regular basis.

Sazbo's (spelling?) The Civil War Reenactors forum is a good place to find middle of the road gear at a reasonable price.

www.cwreenactors.com/

The Authentic Campaigners web site also sells used gear, but it is high end stuff that will cost more than most new reenactors can afford.

If you type Civil War Forum into google then several come up and you may be able to fnd used equipment on some of them.

As stated above Chris Sulivan's site is also a good place to find some used equipment.

Good luck,
