birddog, of the ones you have listed i will definitely be at arcade and attica..... it's fairly close to me.... my first time there last year was amazing.... there's no rush like that of shooting a cannon off the gondola of a train..... it's amazing

Therere is also a living history event at the Burritt Museum in Huntsville, but I'm not certain about that one yet, either.
I'm not certain about the Selma, AL event, as there are some "political" issues there, unfortunately.
I'm sure there will be other small events around the area that we'll hear about through the year and attend, but these are the ones we try to always make.
Wow.. looks like a lot when you spell it out like that, doesn't it?
No wonder my poor feet are tired by the end of the season!

Birddog,
I'm not a reenactor but I live about 25-30 miles or so from Hartford City and hope to go to that event, I've never been to a CW reenactment. I've heard that there is one every year at Billie Creek Village near Crawfordsville.

See ya Missionary Ridge : ) I saw some pics of the sight on the Alabama Div. Website.. Looks Like quite a hill climb .. did you attend it last year? was wondering what you thought of the event.
regards, Steven
BTW ..sho would like to go to the event in Tuscaloosa.. been a few years since I visit the campus there.
And would like to do the decature event as well but will the days i ask off around that weekend will be hard to get out of work.. Maybe next year.
Be aware that if you want to participate in any of the activities, such as the ball, the dinner and other things in Galeena it's going to cost you. I have a member of our group going down there, and she had pulled up last years info and the dance was $2.50 per person, the President's dinner was $33.00 per person plus tax and gratuitie, and the list went on.
Also, we will be at Boscobel, so we look forward to seeing you out there again. We'll be in the same spot we were last year.
Our groups events is a pretty long list for a Civilian Group:
May 6-7th: Brookfield, WI. Dousman Coach House Inn
June 3-4th : VA Center - Reclaiming our Heritage- one of the three VA centers that Lincoln signed into order before he was assassinated. Very cool place. Still has the original Chapel that the Civil War soldiers had built with their own funds.
June 17&18: Fox Lake, WI
June 24-25th: Cudahay, WI.- 100th. B-day of the city.
July 8-9th: Waucondao, IL.
July 22-23- Muskego, WI- Timeline event spanning from Rev. War to WWII
Aug. 5-6th, Boscobel, WI.
Aug. 12-13: National Railroad Museum- GreenBay, WI
Sept. 2-3: Old World Wisconsin annual event- Eagle, WI.
Sept. 23-24: Old Wade House, Greenbush, WI
Setp. 30-Oct.1: Trimborn Farms, Greendale, WI. And original 1830's lime quarry and farm. They still have the original kilns still in tackt. Very neat place.
Oct. 14-15: Union Grove, WI- Timeline event
And then our group hosts an annual New YEar's Gala! And boy do we have fun that night! Period dancing, good food, lots of good friends! Just a wonderful time!!!

Steven, that hill was one heck of a climb, but the way they did the battle wasn't TOO strenuous on anyone, and it was cool outside which helped a great deal.
Basically, they had the guys come down the hill and the major part of the battle was on the lower half of the hill and in the valley. It was amazing to watch, though.
There were a good number of people there (don't remember the exact count) as far as reenactors, and spectators.
We had so many ladies at the tea that it was literally standing room only in the small cabin, and we didn't stay for the ball because I was fighting a cold and they held it outside, so I can't tell you about any of that.
I know our guys are really looking forward to Missionary Ridge this year.
As for the Tuscaloosa events, I know that there is a special medical event planned for that first Sunday of the event, and then something is going on all week, including tours of several of the homes, of which I'm helping with, and a grand ball is being planned for that Saturday night, but I do not know where yet.
Who knows, you might be able to figure out the Decatur event.. or do like Mr. Brown does on most events... he works Sundays, so most events he only gets to "play" on Saturdays. That's ok, though. He gets a little play time, and then saves up his big weekends for Tannehill, Decatur and Tallassee.
