Default Vintage Sewing help

Here is a excelent site for those want to sew their own clothes or for the soldier who wants to mend his clothes in the field.

School Needlework, A Course of Study in Sewing designed for use in Schools by Olive C. Hapgood, teacher of sewing in Boston Public Schools

Including general suggestions; plain sewing; ornamental stitches; and drafting, cutting, and making garments. A great book for learning basic stitches for hand sewing. (159 pages)

BTW, if anyone ever gets to Conner Prairie (Living History) Museum in Fishers, Indiana, you can talk with the costumed interpreters about sewing. After the first 6 months of work, they're expected to sew their own clothing and each item is inspected by their own Conservator/Curator (Erika) for accuracy. No cheating when she's around.
