Default "****", is it taboo here?

Gentlemen and ladies,

I have been reading some of this forum’s older posts and noticed the censoring of the word "****". Is there a reason for this? I understand the word is not a polite or courteous term to use for a person, and I understand why that is unacceptable, but when you use the term for equipment (such as the term "de****ing a musket") is this acceptable on this forum?

Your humble servant,

Chase Pinkham

Chase,

The program is pretty much automatic it what it censors. Try putting a space amongst the word you wish to use, such as: defar bing a musket.

while in this case it is not considered a flame, the censor funtion doesn't recognize the context.

perhaps you could use the term authenticate.
